How to Create a Thread Group Element in JMeter

What is JMeter?

JMeter is an open-source software designed to load functional test behaviour and measure performance created by Stefano Mazzocchi of the Apache Software Foundation. It is used to analyze and measure the performance of web applications and other services. Performance testing entails subjecting a web application to a high load and multiple and concurrent user traffic. It is effectively designed to test Web Applications and FTP applications. What is Thread Group in JMeter?

A Thread Group is a collection of threads that all run the same scenario. In the configuration, specify the number of iterations. Thread behaviour is defined to ramp up and then destroy once the number of iterations per thread has been reached.

How to Create a Thread Group Element in JMeter?

The initial steps of the JMeter Test Plan are Thread Group elements. A Thread Group can contain many threads. In a test, each thread simulates a real user requesting the server.

Components of Thread Group:

Thread Properties:

No Of Threads:

It stimulates a particular number of users or connections to your application server.

Total Loop Counts:

The number of times the test should be run If you need to run the test indefinitely, check the “Forever” box.

Scheduler:

To plan the execution of tests. When you select this checkbox, the scheduler configuration bottom panel will be enabled. In endurance testing, the schedule feature is very useful.

Scheduler Configuration:

The scheduler configuration section allows you to configure the test start time, end time, duration, and startup delay of your load test plan. To enable this configuration section, select the scheduler check box from the above section of thread properties.

Start Time:

This plan calls for the test to begin at the specified time. The JMeter must run on the date and time specified in the “Start Time” field.

End Time:

This feature instructs JMeter to terminate the test at the specified time. Stop execution and end time override. This Means-End Time is the maximum time authorized to complete the test plan execution. JMeter immediately terminates the execution when End Time occurs.

Duration (Seconds):

It instructs JMeter to run the test for a set amount of time. If the duration is set to 60 seconds, JMeter will run the execution for 60 seconds. It also disregards or overrides the End Time and whether or not All threads have completed their test.

Startup Delay (Seconds):

It informs JMeter to wait for a specified amount before beginning the test. If the startup time is set to 10 seconds, JMeter will not start loading users until the timer runs out.
